Mt. Anba is a towering 239 meters, letting you get the full view of Kesennuma. A symbol of the city, its name “Anba (safe waves) carries the hope of safe sea travels and fruitful catches of fish. You’re guaranteed to see the view from the top in any video introducing Kesennuma. The mountain ridge is said to resemble the waving back of a dragon, and “Anbasan Park” at the fifth climbing checkpoint was made in the likeness of dragons. Two dragons greet you at the entrance to the park, and the trail to the top of the mountain has various sights of interest like the “Dragon Staircase” the “Sunrise Terrace”, and the “Star Terrace”. It’s a favorite among locals for its beautiful design, and rich nature.
