Kesennuma has two famous oyster farming areas.　These are Karakuwa and Oshima. Those area oyster’s are super fresh and of course, delicious because both areas are surrounded by mountains, and the rich nutrients stored by the mountains flow into the sea through rivers. This tour allows visitors to board the boats of local oyster fishermen in these two areas and experience with them how oysters are cultivated. This is a valuable experience that allows you to learn more about the oysters you usually eat, as well as the fishermen’s care and commitment to their oysters. There is also a plan that offers you the opportunity to eat oysters at oyster hut or local oyster restaurant after the experience.

(1) Boarding experience, visit to an aquaculture raft
*May be cancelled in case of stormy weather.
After receiving an explanation from a fisherman, board a fishing boat. The
tour will take about 40 minutes to visit several oyster rafts to see how
oysters are cultivated.
(2) Feeding of seagulls
*May be cancelled in case of stormy weather.
If you are lucky, you may see seagulls. You can feed the seagulls while
feeling the sea breeze.
(３) Enjoy steamed oysters at Banya oyster hut
You can eat freshly landed seasonal oysters and scallops steamed to
perfection. The communication with local staff and the view of Karakuwa’s
inner bay outside the window are also attractive.
